The Ultimate Guide to Making Delicious Aloo Ka Paratha

Aloo Ka Paratha is a popular Indian bread made with a filling of spiced mashed potatoes. It is a staple dish in North India and is often served for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Here's a recipe for making Aloo Ka Paratha:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp amchur (dried mango powder)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Water, as needed
  • For the filling:
  • 2 medium-sized potatoes
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp amchur (dried mango powder)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp oil

Instructions:

  1. Boil the potatoes until they are soft. Once they are cool enough to handle, peel them and mash them in a bowl.
  2. Add cumin seeds, coriander powder, red chili powder, amchur, salt, and oil to the mashed potatoes and mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and oil. Gradually add water and knead until you have a soft and pliable dough. Cover and let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into 8-10 equal parts and roll each part into a ball.
  5. Take one ball of dough and flatten it into a disc. Place a spoonful of the potato mixture in the center and seal the edges to form a ball.
  6. Dust the ball with flour and roll it into a circle about 6 inches in diameter.
  7. Heat a griddle or non-stick pan over medium heat. Place the rolled paratha on the griddle and cook until brown spots appear on one side. Flip and cook the other side until brown spots appear.
  8. Apply oil or ghee to both sides of the paratha and continue to cook for another minute or until the paratha is golden brown on both sides.
  9. Repeat the process for the rest of the dough balls.
  10. Your Aloo Ka Paratha is now ready to be served hot with pickle, yogurt, or chutney. Enjoy your delicious and comforting meal!

  11. Note: You can add or adjust the spices to your liking. You can also add chopped green chilies or ginger to the potato mixture for extra flavor.
